Well, here it is. Another year closing, another year opening. I don't know about you, but my reality has lately been super-kaleidoscopic, with amazing synergistic occurrence. The speed with which dreams are becoming reality is unsettling at times. It seems that anything is possible.

I am currently in retreat, fasting, cleansing, creating the space to embrace the grace, stillness and potential of emptiness. And I am taking this moment to write to myself as much as to you.

Sometimes it's challenging to talk frankly about life. Part of it is not wanting to sound like I'm gloating. There's such a prohibition against talking about how amazing things can turn out.

In the past year I have wondered into unknown worlds, opened my heart in trust and love again and again, and been enriched by the experience every time. There is no pain large enough to deny the power and potential of loving.

Relationships have come and gone, and come and gone, and come again. (There is exciting news on that front, and I will share it soon...) Every instance where I decided to follow love when it beckoned (as Khalil Gibran puts it), I learned more about being human, more about being divine.

My life is more the life I have longed for now than it has ever been, and is constantly and rapidly becoming a more and more accurate representation of what I know is possible.

I read a visualization I wrote last new year, and so much of it has already come true. And the rest is coming more and more clear day by day.

My thought of the moment is this; it's amazing what can happen when we put our minds to it. Reality really IS that malleable. Or at least, our perception of reality is. Either way it comes down to noticing, making choices, and patterning and repatterning.

It comes down to LIVING the lives we want to create, not getting so caught up in creating that we forget that the real magick happens when the rubber meets the road. Flesh meets flesh. Mind and matter become one. The unconscious and the conscious mind find full-alignment. Integrity. Integration.

The living is the alchemy. Transformation is the dance of life breathing itself through me.

May your 2008 be an amazing experience of base elements turning to the gold of realization, just through noticing It, As It Is.

We all know that the beginning of another calendar year is a rather arbitrary demarcation. It only has energy for us because we make it so. And, because there are so many of us making it so, it is more so.

Right now, I offer you an opportunity to see each breath as a doorway. Each opening of your eyes. Each moment of stillness just before you speak. Each moment is a new beginning.

Yes, give yourself rituals to celebrate momentous ones if you choose to, if it helps you.

For instance, last year I gave up a lot of things on New Year's day. I'm both embarrassed and proud to say that it was only a year ago, yet now a FULL YEAR ago that I quit smoking cigarettes for the final time. There are many other substances I drastically altered my relationship with on that day, too. It works if it works...

And every morning when I wake up, I remember to draw my consciousness to that which I am grateful for in my life. When I sit down to dinner with my family I choose to celebrate successes, and cultivate gratitiude.

But when life is the most magickal, the most flowing, these moments are not rarified. They are part of a continuous flow of gratitude, recognition, the result of an encompassing, graceful balance between force and faith.

Breathe it. Be it. Consider yourself activated!

Touching and activating, this event was produced in the aftermath of 9/11. It is not overly focused on the events, but is a call to action none-the-less. The images of John and Yoko stand as a tribute, and an example. Now THAT was one powerful couple. How amazingly lovely. The performance by Kevin Spacey rocked, too! Watch it.

2007 found me flitting across the globe, riding flights of fancy, a magick carpet ride into smoke filled cafes, and homes scented of meat and spices. the gray grace of occupation, a wounded song of souls searching for more, living on the grit that gathers around bones ossifying.

i flew back and forth between the middle east and the US three times, fell deeply in love with people and places, causes and commotion. I made my own dreams come true and found the edges of dark dreams where I could face fears and embrace them.

led by lions and dreams, and the voice of the ineffable sounding in my ears, I walked paths of pilgrimage, into stories older than time itself.

looking for the balance between home and hearth, corn woman, rainbow woman, bridge builder. I built foundations that will support my life growing.

love is strange and compelling, and I found anchors to draw me home. i built dream worlds, where I could live out lives that would never be mine. Investing in the nights and days of longing, women veiled in mystery motioned to me..."come follow," they seemed to say, my longing leading me into hidden allies in the dark of night.

this year past has been a stage of dance and chance, trust and faith growing cell-like, contaminating my blood with a strange delirium. Choice is choice, and the mysteries reveal themselves through all the faces, but god has no face. it is always the face behind the face that we think we see.

there is no god but god. the chant runs 'longside my heart beat; "La ilaha illa'llah." Every moment where clinging occurs, the heartbreak of division.

I have learned to move gracefully from surrender to surrender, always making the final surrender on my terms - choice is choice.

At moments I have longed for death, only out of the knowingness of the purity of holding and being held by the moment. no distraction.

but there is a calling greater than that sweet mergence; to wander this earth, a mystic embodied.
